What is Dining For Change?
Dining
For Change is a charitable organization founded in 2006 that seeks to help local
charities through donations from Philadelphia restaurants. Dining For Change specifically encourages students to participate in philanthropy by hosting fundraising dinners. Dining For Change is currently in the process of becoming a section 501(c)(3) public charity.
How does Dining For Change work?
Dining For Change benefits Philadelphia-area restaurants by filling them with graduate students on a weeknight. In return, the host restaurant graciously donates a percentage of the total check back to Dining For Change. These donations are matched by local sponsors and 100% of the money gathered is given to a local charity.
What types of causes are benefited?
Dining For Change members vote on the specific charities that are to be benefited by a hosted event. Local restaurants are also encouraged to suggest a charity of their choice. Charities that would like to become involved with Dining For Change may also nominate themselves. Ultimately however, the decision is made by our members.
